The STI - (the IT Office, or Superintendência de Tecnologia da Informação in portuguese) is the supplementary body of UFPE responsible for managing UFPE's software and hardware infrastructure, planning and executing the university's information technology policy.

STI is also responsible for researching, developing, executing and participating in projects in Information Technology and IT services, as well as raising funds through projects, consultancy and services.

In addition to having an action aimed at the academic community, STI carries out actions for the entire society, through extension courses.
