Seminars of the UFPE Statistics Graduate Program
The Graduate Program of the Department of Statistics has regularly promoted seminars to interact with different researchers, companies and sectors of society in order to integrate different areas of knowledge in order to take advantage of the potential of our peers. The lectures permeate any topic of a scientific nature. We believe that this collaboration allows the promotion of interdisciplinarity, helps with dissemination, improves the quality of research and brings the academic community closer to society. The discipline PGE952 - Graduate Seminars of the Graduate Program in Statistics at UFPE aims to offer the community the advances, challenges and opportunities for research and collaboration between PPGE and society. National and international professors and researchers are usually invited.
This is a mandatory subject for all regular students.
Rules
The concept attributed to the discipline is based on the number of attendance at seminars.
Seminars can be in two categories: internal or external. Internal seminars are those promoted by the Graduate Program in Statistics explicitly for the discipline PGE952 - Seminars.
Scientific presentations, such as dissertation / thesis defenses, seminars / colloquia in other programs / departments, etc., may come into account in calculating the seminars. To this end, they must be previously accepted by the Seminar discipline coordinator. These seminars are said to be external.
For approval, in addition to the frequency described above, at least 10 seminars must be internal.
The concept will be attributed as follows:
If the frequency is between 0 and 9 seminars, in total, the assigned concept will be D;
If the frequency is between 10 and 14 seminars, in total, the assigned concept will be C;
If the frequency is between 15 and 19 seminars, in total, the assigned concept will be B;
If the frequency is greater than 20 seminars in total, the concept assigned will be A.
Upcoming seminars will be posted on the homepage of this website with the schedule and detailed information.
The student should enroll in the discipline only when he / she understands that he / she will reach the desired frequency / concept. Once enrolled, at the end of the semester, the concept will be informed according to frequency.
The presence will only be ratified if the seminar is fully attended, including the debate and questions that follow the presentation. Similarly, in the case of dissertation / thesis defenses, they will only be considered with presence to the presentation and to the argument / defense.
